"All Mother" Original Piece

This piece has a lot of frustration behind it. It's roughly 14 inches x 22 inches with an allowance for a mat when framed. I was inspired by H. R. Giger. There is a woman with a beautiful, but unhealthy body, representing my own body issues. A baby rests in the left breast, far from where they should be. At the time I painted this, I was in a loveless, unhappy marriage. I've wanted children my entire life. But the joy of a child felt so unattainable. My husband and I were not meant to be. We didn't care about each other the way we should have and had differing aspirations. So, when we inevitably divorced, I didn't realize that, though it was one of the most painful experiences of my life, it was also the best thing that could have happened for me. With great fear and courage, I finally spoke to the man I've wanted since kindergarten. We reconnected and realized just how much we missed each other. Our love grew and we found that our goals and desires were the same. I'm now married to that man and have all the joy I've ever craved.
