"Service With A Smile" Original Piece

One may correctly guess that I was very angry when I painted this. It's roughly 14 inches x 22 inches with the mat allowance. I painted this when I was still working retail. I was very unhappy in a toxic work environment, going absolutely nowhere. It features many dark and triggering themes behind a pristine, smiling mask. No matter what my coworkers and I were going through, we were expected to put on a happy, friendly facade. Imperfections in this facade were not tolerated well. It was a soul sucking job and I felt fake and trapped in a monotonous prison full of other unhappy people. I've quit that job and am happier than I've ever been in my life. One must break free of the prisons they make for themselves and reach out for what they truly want in life. Otherwise, the misery will never end. Dig the tunnel and free yourselves.
